Date-Night with God

An opportunity to dig deeper into the Bible

La Salette Retreat Center is unveiling a new series of Scripture Studies for persons who are busy during the day and cannot normally attend our Days of Recollection. Young couples are often urged to have a “date-night” away from the kids in order to keep romance in their marriage. This new program at La Salette – “Date Nights with God” – invites you to keep and deepen your romance with God. During 2020, there will be four Date-Nites, all on Thursdays: March 19th, May 21st, October 22nd & December 3rd, 2020.  Each evening will begin with registration at 6:15pm followed by dinner at 6:30pm and the presentation by Father Flavio at 7:30pm. If you like this format, more Date-Nights will be added in 2021.

Acquire the skills to become better at reading the Bible. Learn how to read, interpret and share Scripture with others. Encounter Jesus, the Messiah, and embrace a life of discipleship with Jesus (John 1:41).

QUESTIONS

YOU DON'T DARE TO ASK

The Bible is the most purchased book in the world; and yet, especially among Catholics, it is not well-read, studied and understood. The questions Fr. Flavio will tackle are: Is the Bible Word of God? What do we read when we open a page from the Bible? How did the Bible come about, and what does it mean that it is an inspired book? Does the Bible have a unified and unifying plot?.

THE RELATIONSHIP

BETWEEN OLD & NEW TESTAMENT

The Old Testament records stories that are more than 2000 years old. If the Old Testament is so “old”, as Christians, do we still need it? Why? And do we need the Bible to encounter Jesus? What are the benefits of encountering Jesus in his Jewish Context?.

THE BIBLE UNVEILED:

IS THE BIBLE RELEVANT

TODAY?

What do the most recent documents of the Church teach on the role of the Bible in the daily life of the Church? Why bother read the Bible? Does the Bible matter? Whose stories do we read when we approach the texts of the Gospels? How to approach the Bible in a life-giving way, or what practices can inform a scriptural imagination among believers?

WHAT ARE THE

DEAD SEA SCROLLS

The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, back in 1947, is often hailed as the greatest manuscript discovery. Even though many people might have heard the Dead Sea Scrolls, few know what they are or the significance in relation to both the Old and the New Testament. Join Fr. Flavio for an evening entirely devoted to the Scrolls of Qumran: What are they? Should they matter? Why?.

RSVP: NOVEMBER 27, 2020
