Sacred Music Series:
Gregorian Chant

Starting Date:
February 19, 2024

Led by the Music Director of the

National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, Tim Boisvert, participants will learn the basics of responding in chant during masses, special services, psalms, adoration, and more.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Gregorian Chant

We hear these chants during Mass, special times, adoration, and more – Tantum Ergo, Ubi Caritas, Ave Maria, O Salutaris Hostia, and more. The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette is offering a six-week course in learning chant singing (though no singing experience is required). Led by the Music Director of the Shrine, Tim Boisvert, participants will learn the basics of responding in chant during masses, special services, psalms, adoration, and more. We will then learn some of the most important and well-known chants in the Catholic Church. Participants will also learn syllabic stress and rhythm techniques to help improve all singing – not just chanting. Lent is a great time for reflection and prayer, and learning chants and how to chant adds a positive new way to do both! Practice recordings between sessions will be made available online for participants, as well as instructional materials.
