ABOUT THE SIXTH SESSION - BUT I TELL YOU: THE UNHEARD GOOD NEWS OF JESUS OF NAZARETH

Judean Desert - Wadi Qelt (Valley of Shadow of Death) - Old Road Jerusalem-Jericho - Jericho.

For our sixth session we will go into the wilderness of Judah and we will explore Wadi Qilt, in whose gorge pilgrims can admire the Greek Orthodox monastery of St. George, built in the late 5th century AD by John of Thebes, and named after the famous monk who lived at the site, Gorgias of Coziba. 

From there we will have a virtual walk to “Ascent Adummim”, the ancient main route from Jerusalem to Jericho, and the setting of various biblical narratives, including David’s flight from Absalom (2Sam 15-16), Zedekiah’s flight from the Babylonians (2 Kings 25:4), and the well-known parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). 

The sixth session will end in Jericho, also known in antiquity with the name of “City of Palms”, and the geographical setting for the encounter between Zaccheus and Jesus of Nazareth (Luke 19:1-10).
