ABOUT THE MOVIE FESTIVAL
Cinema Sanctum
Pope Francis has declared 2024 the Year of Prayer in anticipation of the 2025 Jubilee Year, ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. In this spirit, the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette and La Salette Retreat & Conference Center are excited to present the 2024 Movie Festival Cinema Sanctum: A Cinematic Exploration of Prayer, an EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM aimed at exploring the intricate and profound reality of prayer. This educational program will start on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, and end on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
The movie festival “Cinema Sanctum” transcends the traditional film festival format because it is a gathering that is more than just watching movies: it is a cinematic and visual pilgrimage inviting the audience to reflect on the transformative power of prayer as it moves from the screen into the hearts, challenging, comforting, and ultimately changing us in the most unexpected ways.
Join us on this journey to see how prayer, portrayed through the lens of selected films, can foster both spiritual growth and awakening, with each movie serving as a narrative milestone on this artistic and spiritual journey.
The Film Festival will begin on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. with the screening of “The Shack” at La Salette Retreat & Conference Center.
“The Shack” prompts us to consider prayer’s role in navigating life’s darkest moments and in healing our wounds. As such, the film helps viewers understand the multifaceted nature of prayer and its place in human resilience and redemption.
All the screenings will take place at La Salette Retreat & Conference Center (Maximin Hall)
